L.A. Wildfire Fundraiser: New Sounds in Bay Area Audio Genres Compilation Record from 2004
Jarrett put this compilation record out in 2004 from various bands and artists living in the San Francisco Bay Area at the time. When moving out of our house in Iowa City, he found a box of them in fantastic condition. It was a limited run of 300 copies and an interesting document of things going on at that time. To the best of our knowledge it is the first issuing of the band Oh Sees (OCS) on vinyl in North America. There was a European 7-inch that came out before this record, but only because New Sounds in Bay Area Audio Genres was delayed at the pressing plant. The record is bands, artists, and even live documentation of Jarrett doing his signature “entertainment.” We wanted to do a fundraiser of some kind to aid in the disaster efforts for the L.A. wildfires, and selling these records for that purpose seems like the right idea. This record is very rare and limited in supply. There is only one listing in North America for it, priced at $90.
***We will begin shipping these on January 23rd***
We are donating 100% of proceeds from these records to Letters From Altadena: Wildfire Relief.
Every dollar donated to this specific fundraiser will go directly to families affected by the Eaton Fire.
Letters Charity is a nonprofit organization that uses “art as a conduit to transform passive compassion into immediate assistance through the distribution of money given, without expectation or judgement, directly to families experiencing poverty.”-from their website.
Fundraiser information from website:
Every penny donated to the Letters From Altadena campaign will go directly to affected families. Working with trusted community partners, we are currently identifying families who were already struggling before the disaster struck. These families will receive unrestricted grants they can use for their most urgent needs.
